Midea develops PET resin for hot filling and packaging

US Kosa has developed a new PET packaging resin for beer and other hot filling. The company's 2201 PET resin is designed to provide beer packers with lightweight, thermally stable bottles that withstand the harsh conditions of beer pasteurization. Kosa said that unlike the other resins currently available on the thermoset market, its 2001 resin allows the beer to be pasteurized directly during the packaging process, as it is now done on glass bottles. Like other PET resins, beer must be flash-pasteurized before bottling or cold filtration.
